The Defensive Driving Course contains the most recent research on preventing death and injuries due to traffic accidents. New safety issues addressed include airbags, anti-lock braking systems, safety belts, child restraints, headrests and much more. The state of NJ has established a 2-point vehicle reduction program for NJ Drivers who satisfactorily complete a registered Defensive Driving Course, like this one. NJ Insurance Commissioner, Elizabeth Randle, advises that the drivers who complete a six-hour Defensive Driving Course can now save a minimum of 5% from the base rate for bodily injury, property damage, personal injury and collision coverage for three-year period.

Monopoly tournament and 5k only a little over a week away!

Hi everyone! If you have not done so already, Please make sure to register for our Monopoly Tournament (October 20) and our 5k Run and Walk (October 21)!

Both events will help LPES raise funds to buy crucial lifesaving equipment and to fund training for the organization’s volunteer members.  LPES has done a lot to give back to the community in 2012 including Blood Drives, a Kickball event for the Special Angels, a food drive to support the Lyndhurst Food Pantry and most importantly, the organization’s volunteers have responded to over 1,000 emergency calls in 2012 alone. LPES now needs your help to continue to fund the organization’s mission.
If you would like to donate or volunteer, but can’t make our fundraisers, please visit our donation page and keep posted for more opportunities on how you can support our cause.

Lyndhurst Police Emergency Squad has joined GoodSearch.com in order to raise money to buy equipment and fund training for members. This is an easy and free way to support LPES. Goodsearch is a search engine powered by Yahoo that donates about a penny per search to a charity designated by the user.

Goodsearch.com also has an online shopping mall, GoodShop.com and a dining program Gooddining.com.  The company is affiliated with more than 1,300 online retailers.  If a user makes a purchase through these retailers online through the Goodshop.com Web page, a percentage of the purchase is donated to the charity selected by the user.  The dining program allows users to register their credit cards to the Gooddining.com site.  If a registered card is used at one of the selected dining locations, a percentage of the sale benefits the non-profit.

Lyndhurst Police Emergency Squad to Host Summer Blood and Food Drives

LPES in partnership with Muscle Maker Grill of Lyndhurst will be holding blood drives on July 11 and 12 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., July 13 and 14 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and July 15 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.  LPES will also hold a food drive on July 11 to July 14 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The drives will take place at the LPES building located on 297 Delafield Ave in Lyndhurst.

LPES will enter all donors in a raffle for a new Kindle fire tablet pc.  Aside from being entered in the raffle, all participants will also receive a discount to Muscle Maker Grill. For more information or to register online to donate blood please visit www.emergencysquad.com.

Every two seconds someone in America receives a lifesaving blood transfusion—this year alone more than 5 million patients will need blood.  Last year LPES collected 175 pints of blood—enough to save 350 lives.  This year the squad hopes to collect 300 pints of blood, potentially saving 600 lives.

Healthy individuals over the age of 17 and weighing at least 120 pounds are encouraged to donate blood. Donors with Type O blood are especially encouraged to donate, as the reserve for this type is extremely low.

Blood donations will be used for patients at local hospitals who require life saving blood transfusions.

Food donations will be given to the Lyndhurst Food Pantry at the Lyndhurst Health Department run by the Women’s Club.
